A MAN has been charged with murder after the death of his mother in Chelsea last week.
At around 10.30am on Saturday, 15 May, police conducted a welfare check at a home on Drinan Road in Chelsea. When they arrived they discovered the body of 78-year-old Judy Bednar inside the house.
Police issued a statement saying that the death of the Chelsea resident is “suspicious”, and that an investigation had begun.
On the morning of 17 May police arrested Ms Bednar’s son, Thomas Bednar. They brought in the 53-year-old Chelsea man near his home to interview him.
Later that day, police charged Mr Bednar with one count of murder.
The accused man was scheduled to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on the evening of 17 May.
