One lad swam out to a boat which was anchored some hundreds of yards from the shore. He then picked up his companions and they sailed to Stony Point, a distance of five miles. THE Peninsula Woodturners Guild’s “Woodturning in the Park” Exhibition will run from 18-23 January 2018 10am to 4pm each day. Entry is free, as is parking in the grounds of the McClelland Gallery and Sculpture Park, 390 McClelland Drive, Langwarrin. Items will also be offered for sale. A MAN arrested over an incident that caused alarm at Bayside Shopping Centre last month has been “released pending further enquiries”, police say. The central Frankston shopping centre was evacuated at about 7pm on Thursday 21 December when several forklift gas canisters near a shopping centre car park exploded. Police arrested a 57-year-old man on 28 December to “assist police with enquiries” and advised late last week he was released from custody. FRANKSTON South has been named as the fifth highest hotspot across the state for ambulance callouts to free children stuck in cars. A new Victorian government Don’t Leave Kids In Cars campaign, featuring former AFL Richmond player Matthew Richardson himself a new father, will urge parents and carers not to leave babies, toddlers and children in cars alone in any circumstances.
