TWO more level crossings are set to be removed along the Frankston train line, in addition to the 18 already announced. The state government has named 10 more level crossings which it will remove statewide by 2025. They include Parkers Road in Parkdale and Warrigal Road in Mentone. AFTER three consecutive days of no new COVID-19 cases being infectious in the community, Victoria has exited hard lockdown. Students have been sent back to school, retail and gyms are reopening, restaurants are serving dine-in customers again, and community sport will return. A FRANKSTON resident has been charged with drug trafficking after police discovered what they say is more than $10 million worth of methyl-amphetamine last week. Police seized more than 15 kilograms of the drug after pulling over a tow truck with Victorian plates in Wodonga, 20 July. The car was pulled over by officers as part of Operation Sentinel, enforcing Victoria’s lockdown. Police allege that they found the drugs during a search of the tow truck. VICTORIA’S lockdown has been extended by a week to help combat the current outbreak of COVID-19. On 20 July, 13 new locally acquired cases of coronavirus were confirmed. Of those, 12 were linked to the current outbreak and one was under investigation. There were 96 active cases. There is one active COVID-19 case among residents from the Kingston local government area. The Coles at Westfield Southland in Cheltenham has been listed as a tier two exposure site. ATTENDEES at a Karingal cinema have been thrown into 14 days of isolation after a COVID-19 positive case saw a film there. The Karingal Village Cinemas has been listed as a tier one exposure site by the Department of Health. A person attended a screening of Black Widow in cinema seven from 6pm until 8:30pm on 12 July, then later tested positive for COVID-19.
