CASES of Ross River virus have been confirmed in Frankston and Casey, prompting health officers to warn residents to protect themselves against mosquito bites. Victoria’s chief health officer Professor Charles Guest said the virus had affected six residents and been detected in mosquitoes trapped nearby. In a worrying sign, the virus appears to have made its own way to Frankston. “None of the people diagnosed with Ross River virus have travelled to areas where mosquitoes carrying the virus are usually found,” Professor Guest said. POLICE are searching for a white Mitsubishi Lancer Coupe with distinctive rims and body kit after a shot was fired at a man outside a milk bar in Havana Cr, Frankston, in April last year. The victim was waiting to meet friends when the car drove slowly past and a single shot was fired from the front passenger side window, narrowly missing him and hitting the shop window, 8pm, 28 April 2016. A MORDIALLOC resident whose partner was fined for breaching a four-hour limit at Westfield Southland shopping centre says the parking signs are non-conforming and cannot be enforced. The man, who requested anonymity, said the supposed breach of parking rules occurred in 2012 when his partner received a $70 fine. She refused to pay and he wrote to Kingston Council to complain that the signs did not conform.
