IT was one of the most eventful weeks in local MPNFL football history last week. After news broke that former Sorrento and Rosebud premiership coach Nick Jewell had taken over the coaching job at Pines last Sunday afternoon, just three days later, current coach Pat Swayn was reappointed at the Pythons for the next two years. PENINSULA LEAGUE PINES Football Club appointed sacked Sorrento coach Nick Jewell as its senior coach on the night that it bowed out of the 2017 Peninsula Division finals race against Bonbeach. Jewell was sounded out for the job after Pines lost four games in a row after Aaron Edwards went down with a knee injury. A DELEGATION of 10 Mornington Peninsula Nepean Football Clubs has requested that AFL South East call a Special General Meeting (SGM) of the competition after the governing body handed down a new competition structure that included South East Football Netball League (SEFNL) clubs from 2019.
