A police car was rammed at about 7.45pm last night (Sunday 20 March) when officers attempted to intercept a Holden Commodore with a flat tyre in Plantation Ave, Frankston North.
The car pulled over and the driver left the car in an aggressive manner and approached police. Police deployed OC spray due to the man’s threatening behaviour. He ran back to his vehicle and started to drive off.
Police returned to their car and as they were doing so the Commodore executed a U-turn and drove at the police car. The police car was rammed a number of times and police jumped out of the vehicle. They were caught between the car and a fence and the police car was rammed once more before the Commodore drove off.
A search of the area was conducted and the Commodore located a short time later. A police dog was called in and a 51-year-old Frankston man arrested.
The man is currently under police guard at Frankston Hospital and is expected to be interviewed at a later stage. Two Leading Senior Constables received minor injuries during the incident.
