Police investigating a suspicious fire in Carrum Downs have identified a man pictured in images and CCTV footage released as part of the investigation.

Detectives have spoken to the man and determined he was not involved in the incident.

Emergency services attended a reserve in the vicinity of Paddington Avenue and Odell Place on Wednesday 28 December about 3.15pm following reports of a fire.

The blaze took about two hours to contain, with either side of the Peninsula Link freeway blocked at the location during this time.

No one was injured during the fire and there was no significant damage to any private property.

The fire is being treated as suspicious.

Anyone with any information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential crime report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
