TERRIFIED Coles staff watched on as two men attempted to force their way through the front doors of the Patterson Lakes store, 4.50am, Tuesday 25 April.

A staff member heard a noise at the front of the store, in Gladesville Blvd, and saw the men wearing balaclavas and fluoro vests using a jemmy bar on the door.

He yelled at the men to go away but they moved on to a side door, trying to smash a hole so they could reach in and press the door-release button.

Staff members ran to the back of the store and called 000. The men had gone by the time police arrived.

Detectives are examining CCTV footage to identify the men.

Anyone with information about this incident can provide information in confidence at crimestoppersvic.com.au online or by calling Crime Stoppers 1800 333 000.
