A WARRAGUL man, 40, was arrested in Parkdale after crashing an allegedly stolen car into a fence at about 11.40pm on Monday night (23 July).

Emergency services attended the crash site at the intersection of Warrigal Road and Como Parade after reports a car mounted the kerb, crashed into a fence and caught fire.

Police arrested the alleged driver after he tried to run from the scene.

No-one was injured during the incident.

The arrested man is expected to be charged with theft of a motor vehicle, driving while disqualified, careless driving, failing to exchange details, leaving the scene of an accident, possessing a drug of dependence and refusing an oral fluid test.

Anyone who saw the Red 2007 Holden Calais in the lead up to the collision should contact Crime Stoppers at crimestoppersvic.com.au or by calling 1800 333 000.
