Sixth person charged following violent assault in St Kilda

Stonnington and Port Phillip Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a sixth person following an assault that left two police officers injured.

Police were called to Fitzroy Street, St Kilda about 3am on Sunday 24 February following a report of an alleged assault.

While a man was being arrested, several people intervened.

During the course of the arrest, OC spray was deployed and two police officers were injured.

A 26-year-old Frankston man was arrested in Frankston last night.

He has been charged with assaulting a police officer, violent disorder, affray and other assault related charges.

He was bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 3 June.

A 26-year-old St Kilda man, a 27-year-old Langwarrin man, a 26-yer-old Prahran man and a 38-year-old Frankston man appeared at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

A 25-year-old Langwarrin woman appeared in court Monday.

They were charged with two counts of assaulting police, affray, violent disorder, intentionally cause injury and other assault related offences.
