A MAN is fighting for life after being stabbed in the head in Chelsea Heights during the early hours of 18 June.

Police were called to the car park of the Chelsea Heights Hotel at around 3.35am. When they arrived they found a man, believed to be in his 40s, with a stab wound to his head.

The man was taken to hospital with life threatening injuries, and was still in a critical condition as of yesterday morning (18 June).

Investigators were told that a man had been involved in a verbal altercation with two men and two women. Police were told the argument escalated and that the man was stabbed.

As of yesterday morning no arrests had been made and the investigation into the incident was ongoing. A Victoria Police spokesperson said it is believed that the parties are known to each other.

A crime scene was established. Chelsea SES attended to help protect the crime scene and set up lighting.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or with further information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential crime report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
