AN attempted armed robbery and stabbing of a taxi driver in Carrum Downs is under investigation.

Police are looking into the incident, which took place at around 2pm, Friday 21 June.

Police believe that a taxi collected a man from Greens Road, South Dandenong, at around 1.40pm, and arrived at a house on Balmain Drive, Carrum Downs at around 2pm. It is then believed that the offender presented a knife and demanded that the victim hand over cash.

The taxi driver was stabbed numerous times in his arm after a short scuffle. The 38-year-old victim from Eumerring was taken to hospital and has since been released.

Frankston Embona taskforce detectives have released images of a man they wish to speak to. The alleged offender was last seen running towards Shearwater Drive shortly after the incident.
