AN unknown offender has failed in their attempt to flee with a stolen car after they couldn’t work out how to drive a manual vehicle, police believe.

At around 6am, 22 April, an unknown offender attempted to steal an Amarok ute from a victim. The car was left abandoned on the street with the engine running.

The previous day the victim had attended a Cranbourne Road pool and reported a theft to police. He told them that he had his wallet, phone and car keys stolen. An unknown man had attended the pool and paid for a general swimming lesson, entering without a backpack. The man then entered the change room and was seen fleeing with a backpack.

Police have released a CCTV image (above) of a person who they believe may be able to assist with their inquiries in relation to the alleged incidents. Any information to Frankston Police on 9784 5555 or contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
