Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following a fatal collision in Cranbourne on Sunday (11 August).
The 20-year-old Frankston man has been charged with a number of offences relating to the collision that occurred in an allegedly stolen vehicle on South Gippsland Highway near Camms Road just after 4pm.
He has been charged with numerous offences relating to the collision including one count of unlicensed driving and two counts of:
- Culpable driving
- Dangerous driving causing death
- Negligently cause serious injury
- Dangerous driving causing serious injury
- Five counts of reckless conduct endangering life and;
- Commit indictable offences whilst on bail
He will also appear at court after detectives from Southern Metro Crime Team have charged him with over 40 offences relating to a number of vehicle thefts, theft from motor vehicle, aggravated burglary, burglary, obtain property by deception, criminal damage and commit indictable offences whilst on bail and arson that occurred in the southern metro areas in July and August.
Two of the four passengers in the allegedly stolen vehicle, an 18-year-old Cranbourne woman and a 16-year-old Frankston boy, died at the scene.
The 17-year-old female passenger remains in hospital in a critical condition.
The Frankston man will appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court Thursday 14 August.
