Detectives from the Arson and Explosives Squad have arrested two teenagers this morning as part of their investigation into an explosion in Carrum Downs in August.

Warrants were executed at residential properties in Carrum Downs and Seaford from 5.30am on 20 November.

A 17-year-old Carrum Downs boy and a 16-year-old Seaford girl have been arrested and will now be interviewed by police.

Last month investigators made a public appeal for information about the explosion, which occurred at a reserve on Hillview Drive about 5pm on 28 August.

The device was propelled into the sky before it crashed into the roof of a nearby home about 150 metres away.

The impact caused extensive damage to the roof as well as inside the property.

Two occupants who were home at the time, were not physically injured.
