THE Frankston and District Basketball Association has closed indefinitely as a “precaution against COVID-19”.
FDBA general manager Wayne Holdsworth confirmed last week that all activities sanctioned by the association would be suspended “until further notice”.
The FDBA’s senior and domestic competitions have been put on hold.
Frankston Blues teams did not play in the VJBL on Friday night, 13 March, and did not train on the following Sunday. In Big V basketball, both Frankston Blues sides did not play last weekend.
All development programs have also been suspended by the association.
“The FDBA has not received any confirmed cases of the COVID-19 virus from any of its members, the decision to close is to reduce the chance of infection to our members and slow potential transmission and community spread of the virus,” Mr Holdsworth said.
“The FDBA domestic finals programs will be reviewed in line with the commencement of the 2020 winter season and we will communicate our new schedules when they have been finalised. On behalf of the FDBA, I would like to thank you for your understanding at this time.”
