TWO nursing students had some familiar support during their placement at Peninsula Health.

Caitlyn Paine and Lucy Cameron (pictured foreground L to R) finished their final placement as part of their diploma this year. On top of the COVID-19 pandemic, their situation was made even more unique by the fact they were placed at the same hospital as their mothers, Michelle Paine and Jenny Cameron (background L to R).

Ms Paine said “as a new mother herself now, Caity had her concerns at the start of COVID about continuing with her course and coming home to a newborn. But the way she and Lucy are determined to stay committed to honing their craft, when both could have easily put their studies on hold, is a testament to each of them.”

Her daughter Caitlyn said “it’s been so empowering to be able to learn in this challenging environment, knowing I have the support network of the great staff here, including Mum.”
