Officers assaulted in Langwarrin

Frankston Crime Investigation Unit members are investigating after two officers were assaulted in Langwarrin Tuesday morning 8 June 2021.

Officers had been patrolling the Langwarrin area due to a recent spate of theft from and theft of cars when they located a stolen car on Aqueduct Road.

A man and a woman approached the officers and attempted to get into the stolen car.

A fight ensued and a female officer was punched in the face while one of the offenders managed to steal an officer’s capsicum spray and used it on police.

It is alleged the male offender attempted to grab a police firearm while threatening to kill officers and encouraged his counterpart to get into the car and run the members over.

Officers arrested a 41-year-old Langwarrin woman at the scene but the male offender ran off.

The woman has been charged with reckless conduct, resist police, theft of motor vehicle, possess dangerous article, possess drugs and other charges and was bailed to appear at Frankston Magistrates’ Court on 22 November.

Investigators would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or who has CCTV, dashcam or other information.
