A STUDENT was killed after being hit by a car in Mentone last week, 15 August.
Police allege that a car struck two teenagers on Nepean Highway at around 5pm. A 16-year-old boy tragically died at the scene. A 16-year-old girl was treated for minor injuries.
A 31-year-old Dandenong man has been charged with culpable driving over the alleged incident. He was remanded to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 17 December.
The victim has since been identified as Year 10 Mentone Grammar student Lachlan M. A statement on the school’s Facebook page read “the Mentone Grammar Community mourns the passing of Lachlan M. A beautiful soul has been taken from us far too young and our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends at this most challenging of times.”
