SKATERS of all experience levels are invited to join in on the Skate of Mind 2022 event.
The skating day is the first event for the year organised through the FReeZA program, a state government funded program for young people.
People who have a connection to the Kingston area and are between 12 and 25 years old can compete. Kingston councillor Georgina Oxley says that the event is designed to cater for people of all skill levels. “Whether a practiced pro, or a novice just starting out, Skate of Mind has something to offer everyone interested in skateboarding and basketball,” she said.
“Skateboarding has been shown to be helpful in developing a sense of achievement in young people. It creates feelings of connection as they are part of a community and allows them to express their skills with others who share their interest.”
The free Skate of Mind 2022 event takes place at Bicentennial Park in Chelsea, 10am to 4pm on 27 February.
