A driver is expected to be charged with drink-driving offences after he drove down the wrong side of the Frankston Freeway at over five times the limit, early this morning.

Frankston police saw the man on the freeway and located an esky on the passenger seat around 1.30am.

The driver, a 50-year-old Box Hill man, returned an evidentiary breath test of 0.255.

His car was immediately impounded, his licence suspended for 12 months, and he is expected to be charged on summons with drink driving and other traffic related offences.
