A TOUR of Australia in 1986 saw Queen Elizabeth II make her way to Frankston.

Queen Elizabeth II died in Scotland at age 96 last week. Her death has set off a wave of mourning around the globe.

The Queen visited Australia 16 times during her reign. During her 1986 visit she made an appearance at Ballam Park Technical School.

The Queen made her visit to Frankston on 7 March, 1986. Reports from the time stated that around 2000 children welcomed The Queen to the school.

Queen Elizabeth II delivered a speech to students on the day. She then set off for HMAS Cerberus.

Ballam Park Technical School became what is now McClelland College after a merger.
