Police are investigating a series of thefts from liquor shops in Melbourne’s southern and eastern suburbs.

Investigators have been told various bottles of alcohol were stolen from liquor shops in Mulgrave, Burwood, Berwick, Lyndhurst, Forest Hill, Cheltenham, Malvern, Malvern East, Chadstone, Parkdale, and Karingal between September 2022 and October 2022.

Items stolen appear to be high end spirits, usually whiskeys, with an estimated total value of $18,000.

Police have released images of a man who may be able to assist with their enquiries.

Anyone who recognises the man or with information about the thefts is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.

Investigators would also like to hear from anyone who has purchased or seen top-shelf spirits being sold for well below their retail value through social media or online marketplace websites.
