A DRIVER escaped serious injuries after crashing their car into a Mordialloc pizza shop on 24 January.

The car crashed into the Mordialloc Pizza and Pasta shop on Main Street just after 11.30am. Nobody was seriously hurt in the crash.

The crash scene was attended by Fire Rescue Victoria, Ambulance Victoria, Victoria Police, and Chelsea SES. A statement on the Chelsea SES Facebook page read “the service road was closed to all traffic for a little over an hour and onlookers were kept at a safe distance, as the car had hit and taken out the premises gas meter and the gas main was leaking. The gas company arrived in good time and capped off the main to stop the flow of gas, and FRV were constantly measuring the air quality both in and around the shop.

“Luckily, there were no serious injuries. Even luckier, there were no pedestrians near the shop at the time. A City of Kingston building inspector also attended, to ensure that there was no structural damage to the building, and once the area was deemed safe all services headed home.”

It’s great to hear that no one was seriously hurt in this crash. The quick response from Fire Rescue Victoria, Ambulance Victoria, Victoria Police, and Chelsea SES is commendable and it’s reassuring to know that the safety of everyone was a top priority. Let’s hope that the damage to the building is minimal and the shop can get back to business soon.
