Frankston Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating after a heartless thief stole furniture from a charity home about to go under the hammer in Carrum Downs.

Police received reports that numerous pieces of staging furniture were taken from the Sky Way address that is due to go to auction this Saturday.

Investigators believe the burglar parked their vehicle in the garage and loaded numerous items such as artwork, lamps and linen into their vehicle before driving off sometime between 20 and 26 May.

The offender also caused damaged to the newly built home such as damaging walls.

The sale of the home is to raise money for the Menzies Caring for Kids charity which focuses on helping young people in the Frankston and Mornington Peninsula areas.

Audits are still being carried out to determine exactly what has been stolen.

Anyone who witnessed the burglary, has vision or information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.

Quotes attributable to Frankston Crime Investigation Unit First Constable Tomas Bischof.

“I hope the offender is ashamed of themselves for stealing from a charitable organisation that is trying to provide for young children in need of help on the peninsula,” he said.

“Someone out there must know the person who did this low act and I hope they dob them in for their actions.

“If anyone saw any suspicious vehicles in the area, we urge them to come forward and contact Crime Stoppers.”
