A MAN has been arrested after allegedly leading police on a high speed chase through Frankston last week.
The motorcycle driver was spotted allegedly speeding at around 11.20pm on 21 June. Police say he was driving at speeds of up to 130kmph on Seaford Road, where the speed limit is 60kmph.
The driver allegedly evaded Carrum Downs police by driving through wetlands, a pedestrian bridge, and eventually an industrial area. The Air Wing then started following the driver through Dandenong, Cranbourne, and Frankston, where he allegedly reached speeds of up to 180kmph.
The driver was arrested after pulling into a multi-level carpark on Beach Street in Frankston. The 27-year-old Seaford man was charged with theft of the motorcycle, conduct endangering life, and other traffic offences. He was released on bail, and will front Frankston Magistrates’ Court at a later date.
