APPLICATIONS are now open for Kingston Council’s charitable fund and bi-annual grants programs. Council handed out more than $70,000 to 11 charities through its charitable fund last year, and also awarded $220,000 through its bi-annual grants to be shared by different not-for-profits.

Kingston mayor Georgina Oxley is encouraging organisations to apply for this year’s round of grants. “These programs were established to enable partnerships between council and our community to address needs, support initiatives that strengthen community participation, development and inclusion, and foster support,” she said. “This is all about building stronger, more connected neighbourhoods by investing in those working so hard to meet community needs, especially in these challenging times, so I strongly encourage you to apply.”

Kingston Council’s bi-annual grants are one-off grants between $2,00 and $10,000 open to not-for-profit organisations, community groups, and artists. Applications close on 28 February. The charitable fund is open to charities who benefit Kingston residents and have Deductible Gift Recipient and Tax Concession Charity status. Applications for charities close on 21 February.
