Frankston Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating a serious assault in Frankston this month.

It’s believed a 50-year-old Sandhurst man was approached by an unknown male that was walking past a business on Young Street at 1pm on 8 March.

The offender struck the victim to the face with a metal pole as he walked past the shop door where the man had been standing at the time, talking to a woman.

The offender kept walking toward Park Lane after the assault and is not known to the victim.

The victim was transported to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Detectives have released images of a man they believe will be able to assist with their enquiries.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
