On Friday 5th December, Somerville Highway Patrol intercepted a driver on Cranbourne Road, Frankston who appeared to have an unrestrained child in the back seat. When officers spoke to the driver, it was revealed he was disqualified from driving and tested positive for drugs. When the driver was told his car would be impounded, he became quite upset as this was the second vehicle had had impounded in the same day.

This impound forms part of Operation Drive-Thru, conducted over 5th-6th December, focusing on alcohol and drug effected drivers.
Over the two days:
• A total of 100 vehicles were intercepted and breath tested
• 88 roadside drug tests were conducted with
• 6 detections for drink driving
• 14 drug driving detections
• 8 unlicensed drivers
• 10 vehicles impounded.
• A total of 31 penalty notices were issued for various traffic and compliance offences
