TOUGH, pushy, passionate but desperate to be loved, Johnny O’Keefe fought his way to the top in the 1950s to become Australia’s first international star of rock and roll.

When Australia was a provincial outpost of America, when Bill Haley and Elvis Presley were everyone’s heroes, Australia’s larger-than-life rock’n’ roller spectacularly burst into the limelight and blazed a glittering trail of popular tunes and adoring fans to capture a generation who called him “The Wild One”.

MLOC productions are retelling O’Keefe’s story in SHOUT: The Legend of The Wild One – a celebration of the life of his life, legacy and enormous impact on the Australian music industry.

Starring Matt Jakowenko as Johnny O’Keefe, singing hits including Shout!, Wild One, She’s My Baby, I’m Gonna Knock On Your Door, Move Baby Move, Purple People Eater, Sing Sing Sing and many more.

  • SHOUT: The Legend of The Wild One explodes onto the stage from 13-21 October at the Shirley Burke Theatre, 64 Parkers Rd, Parkdale.

Tickets available online at mloc.org.au/shout or by calling 9551 7514.
