Police are investigating following a number of petrol thefts in Moorabbin and Frankston earlier this month.
Investigators have been told that a woman driving a Mercedes SUV with false numberplates attended a service station on Centre Dandenong Road, Moorabbin about 8.40pm on Sunday 12 May.
The woman filled the vehicle and left without making any attempt to pay.
Police believe the same vehicle may have been involved in another petrol theft in Frankston.
On this occasion a woman driving a Mercedes SUV, displaying false NSW numberplates, attended a Nepean Highway service station about 8.30pm on Thursday 16 May.
Again, an unknown woman filled the car without making any attempt to pay.
She was perceived to be Caucasian in appearance, aged between 20and 30-years-old with short blonde hair.
Investigators have released a CCTV images from each incident in the hope of identifying a woman who may be able to assist with their enquiries.
