Homicide Squad detectives are appealing for information to help locate Alex Manuel as part of their investigation into a fatal stabbing in Chelsea Heights on Monday.
The 27-year-old Frankston man is a person of interest to police following the discovery of a critically injured man in the car park of a licensed premise on Springvale Road about 3.35am on 18 June.
Police have been told that 44-year-old Ricky Thompson was involved in a verbal argument with a man before the argument escalated and he was stabbed.
The Bon Beach man was taken to hospital but passed away yesterday as a result of his injuries.
It’s believed the parties involved were known to each other.
Officer in charge of the Homicide Squad, Detective Inspector Andrew Stamper, said police enquiries so far had failed to locate Alex so detectives are appealing for help from the public.
“We’re seeking assistance from anyone who may know Alex’s whereabouts in particular his family, friends or associates,” D/Insp Stamper said.
“An image of Alex has also been released in the hope someone recognises him and can provide information on his current whereabouts.
“We know he frequents the Frankston area but believe he may have gone to ground. I’d also like to make it clear that if he’s being harboured by someone, that person risks committing a serious offence as well.
“If anyone sees him I urge them to call triple zero (000) immediately or if they have any other information to please call Crime Stoppers.
“We are also calling on Alex to make contact with police himself, police are actively searching for him and it will only be a matter of time before we catch up with him.”
Alex is a New Zealand national and is described as being 180cm tall with a medium build, blue eyes, short dark hair and an olive complexion.
Police have released two images of him in the hope someone can provide information regarding his current whereabouts.
