Police are continuing to appeal for public assistance to locate Alex Manuel following a fatal stabbing in Chelsea Heights last week.
Homicide Squad detectives are currently searching for the 27-year-old Frankston man and believe he may be being harboured by an associate.
The New Zealand national is wanted following the death of 44-year-old Ricky Thompson.
Police have been told than the 44-year-old Bon Beach man was involved in a verbal argument in the car park of a licensed premises on Springvale Road about 3.35am on 17 June.
Thompson was subsequently stabbed and passed away in hospital from his injuries on 18 June.
It’s believed the parties involved were known to each other.
Last week police made a public appeal for information in relation to the current whereabouts of Alex Manuel and released two images of him.
Manuel is known to frequent the Frankston area, however police are keen to hear from anyone who believes he may currently be elsewhere.
Officer in charge of the Homicide Squad, Detective Inspector Andrew Stamper, said police believed Manuel is likely staying with an associate at this time.
“We think Manuel has gone to ground and I would strongly re-iterate that if he is being harboured by someone, then that person risks committing a serious offence as well,” he said.
“There will be people out there in the community who know where Alex is – that could be family, friends or other associates – and we are calling on them to do the right thing and come forward.
“We are also calling on Alex to make contact with police himself, police are actively searching for him and it will only be a matter of time before we catch up with him.”
Alex is described as being 180cm tall with a medium build, blue eyes, short dark hair and an olive complexion.
Police previously have released two images of him and are releasing a further image today in the hope someone can provide information regarding his current whereabouts.
Anyone who sights Manuel is asked not to approach him and to contact triple zero (000) immediately.
