Frankston Crime Investigation Unit detectives charged a man following a series of car thefts in Seaford yesterday morning.

Officers were called to a Seaford business about 5.10am after it was reported three cars had been stolen.

Police located the first car abandoned in Carrum Downs and the second in Roden Court, Dandenong.

The third car was sighted by members of the public who performed a citizen’s arrest on the male passenger, before police arrived shortly after.

The female driver fled the scene and has yet to be located.

A 30-year-old Chadstone man was charged with three counts of theft of motor vehicle, committing an indictable offence while on bail and drug possession.

He was remanded to appear at the Frankston Magistrates’ Court 25 June.

Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or file a confidential report online at crimestoppersvic.com.au
