Charges laid after guns found

A MAN allegedly carrying guns in his car was arrested in Aspendale last week.

Police began pursuing a black Mercedes on the Monash Freeway near Ernst Wanke Road at around 1.50am on 8 September. Police arrested a man shortly afterwards in Aspendale.

Police allege that they found four firearms, drugs, and cash inside the car.

A 32-year-old man from Narre Warren has been charged with possession of a traffickable quantity of unregistered firearms, possess category C or D longarm firearm, contravention of a Firearm Prohibition Order, possess cartridge ammunition whilst not the holder of a licence under the Firearms Act, prohibited person possess a firearm, possess loaded firearm in a public place, trafficking commercial quantity of methylamphetamines, four counts of possess firearm with no serial number, and four counts of possess general category handgun. Police say they expect to lay more charges as well.

The man appeared at Melbourne Magistrates Court on 9 September.
