VICTORIA has exited its sixth lockdown, with more restrictions expected to be eased soon.
Visitors are allowed into homes, indoor dining has returned, and the curfew and travel limit have both been abolished. People can now leave home for any reason.
Once Victoria reaches its target of 80 per cent of residents fully vaccinated, more rules are expected to change. The revised restrictions will allow for people to travel freely between rural and metropolitan Melbourne. Retail, gyms, pools, and entertainment venues like cinemas will also reopen. Students at schools and universities will all return to campus. Masks will no longer be required outdoors.
Victoria is projected to reach the 80 per cent vaccination target on 29 October.
When 90 per cent of Victorian residents aged 12 and up are fully vaccinated, almost all restrictions are expected to lift. This milestone is projected to be on November 24.
Last week, two pop-up vaccination clinics were opened to help drive up vaccination rates in Frankston. Headspace Frankston on Playne Street hosted one on 25 October from 11am to 3pm. Monterey Secondary College also hosted a pop-up jab clinic on 23 October and 24 October. Both are now closed.
Frankston’s primary COVID-19 vaccination clinic is run by Peninsula Health at Bayside Shopping Centre. The vaccination hub, located by Rebel Sport, is open Saturday to Wednesday, 9.30am-5pm, and Thursday to Friday 11.30am-7pm.
The Frankston Community Vaccination Hub is accepting bookings by calling 1800 675 398. Walk-ins are also accepted, as are people eligible for a third vaccine dose.
As of 18 October, 64.4 per cent of Frankston residents aged 15 and over are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
With indoor dining heavily restricted, outdoor dining has exploded in popularity during the pandemic. Construction on more outdoor dining spaces in Frankston was finished last week.
Construction has finished on parklets which will cater for 188 patrons outside 13 hospitality venues on Nepean Highway. Seagulls restaurant owner Leon Bozuslavsky said “they look unreal. They have been constructed very well, the timber is very nice, they are very good quality and already it looks fantastic.”
