THE planned upgrade of the Frankston Youth Prevention and Recovery Care Centre is another step closer to completion.

Designs for the upgrade were released last week. The plans include upgraded main lounge living, kitchen, and outdoor areas. The outdoor space will feature barbecues and a sensory courtyard.

The centres provide clinical care to people aged between 16 and 25, with focus on early intervention care.

Construction is expected to start late this year and be complete by early 2024. The project will be delivered by the Victorian Health Bulding Authority.

Frankston MP Paul Edbrooke said the upgraded centre will “ensure young people in Frankston are supported through their recovery journey with the best possible facilities.”

Mental health minister Gabrielle Williams said “we’re rebuilding our mental health system from the ground up to make sure all Victorians in crisis get the support they need, with facilities that are designed to create a welcoming, safe and therapeutic environment.”
