DR Dolly Daou was named the citizen of the year at a Kingston Council event last week. Dr Daou works as an academic and an educator. She works on developing sustainable initiatives for organisations, and has received awards for her efforts across Europe and Asia. She has also been invited to be part of the RoleModel Rebels network.
At last week’s Kingston 2024 Citizen of the Year awards, the Mordialloc Theatre Company was named the community group of the year. The not-for-profit theatre company has put on more than 500 performances, with many more yet to come.
Kingston mayor Jenna Davey-Burns presented the awards on 21 May. She said “we live in a truly remarkable community of people who contribute beyond measure to making Kingston such a strong and connected community.” “Our community is built on inclusion and kindness – driven by the dedication and generosity of our hard working volunteers. These awards and event are just a small way of us being able to let people know how valued their efforts and contribution is. It’s important we pause and acknowledge the outstanding impact they all make, for all of us,” she said.
