South East Water has lifted the Boil Water Advisory for Frankston South – the water is safe to drink.

Customers and community who are in the affected streets no longer need to boil their water as a precaution and can use tap water as normal.

South East Water’s water quality sampling results have come back clear. This confirms the water in Frankston South is safe to drink.

Approximately 1200 households in parts of Frankston South were impacted due to a faulty valve which has now been repaired.

South East Water recommends affected customers to flush their taps for 5 minutes to draw fresh water into their internal plumbing before returning to normal water usage in their home or business.

To apologise for the inconvenience and reimburse for any bottled water or containers customers may have bought, South East Water will automatically apply a $90 credit to the South East Water account of each property within the affected area.

South East Water General Manager Service Delivery Tim Lloyd thanked customers and community for their patience and cooperation.

“We take our responsibility to provide safe and reliable drinking water seriously.

“We don’t issue these advisories lightly – customer health and safety will always be our number one priority,” Tim Lloyd said.

If South East Water customers in the area didn’t receive an email or SMS notification, they can visit mysoutheastwater.com.au to update their contact details for future updates about water and sewerage related emergencies in their area.
