MARINA Kyriakou, the founder and CEO of Fight ENDO Foundation and Adenomyosis Australia, has been named Kingston’s Woman of the Year.
Kyriakou was handed the award at an annual International Women’s Day event at Kingston City Hall last week. She was recognised for her work providing education, support, and advocacy for women living with complex gynaecological conditions.
Awards for Courageous Commitment, Excelling in Arts or Sport, Impact in STEM or Innovation, and Young Woman of the Year were also presented last week. The winners were founder and director of GA Industrial Gabriela Ammendola, Little Swim School owner Jessica Adkins-Barber, We Rise Kingston branch founder Nally Pillay, and Better Health Network Community Advisory Board co-chair Anastasia Bearsley respectively.
Kingston mayor Georgina Oxley presented the awards to the recipients. She said “every year I am blown away by the calibre of women and girls we honour through these awards and the leadership, courage and commitment shown by this year’s nominees and winners is nothing short of extraordinary.”
“I love that through these awards we can shine a light on the quiet achievers and powerful changemakers who strengthen our community every single day,” Cr Oxley said. “This year’s International Women’s Day theme, Balance the Scales, reminds us that progress happens when people care enough to show up and take action, because when women and girls thrive, our whole community thrives with them.”
