FREE plants will be given away to Kingston residents this month.
Roughly 1000 plants will be available to claim at each giveaway event. Giveaways take place on 8 May and 12 May at the Carrum Indigenous Nursery in Patterson Lakes from 9am – 12pm. Another giveaway will be held on 16 May from 9am – 12pm at Kingston Heath Reserve in Cheltenham.
The events are organised by Kingston Council. Kingston mayor Georgina Oxley said “the initiative plays an important role in strengthening Kingston’s natural landscape.”
“Boosting our tree canopy and increasing biodiversity across Kingston is a key priority for council,” she said. “These plant giveaways are a simple but powerful way our community can be part of that effort, whether it’s adding shade, supporting local wildlife, or simply creating a more inviting outdoor space at home.
“We know our community values green spaces, and this is a great opportunity to take that one step further in your own backyard, without having to dip into your pocket.”
No bookings are required, but proof of address must be provided to claim a free plant. For more information visit kingston.vic.gov.au/free-plants.
