A man has suffered facial injuries after he was assaulted during an armed robbery in Frankston last month.

Investigators have been told the 18-year-old was walking along Cranbourne Road when he saw a group of approximately six teenagers near Coprosma Avenue about 9.50pm on Wednesday 22 July.

One of the unknown teenagers asked the victim for a cigarette but he advised that he didn’t have any cigarettes.

Approximately 20 seconds later, the victim was struck to the right side of his head.

Two of the males then grabbed the victim by his arms and pinned him to a near-by fence.

One of them produced a knife and made demands for his mobile phone.

The victim complied and handed over his mobile phone.

The group of teenagers then fled the scene and were last running towards Paton Street.

The Frankston man suffered a cut to the right side of his face and a vertical fracture to one of his teeth which later required extraction.

The group of teenagers have been described as being Caucasian, aged around 15 or 16 and approximately 170cm tall.

Police have been told the males were wearing hooded tops or baseball caps with jeans.

It is believed one of the men was wearing a “Nike” hooded top.

Frankston Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for witnesses and urge anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report atwww.crimestoppersvic.com.au
