A NEW $2.03 million play space at Banyan Reserve in Carrum Downs is now open.
The upgraded play space features swings, slides, climbing structures, water play, and a new asphalt bike track. Construction, which began earlier this year, was paid for by Frankston Council and the Victorian Government.
Frankston mayor Cr Sue Baker said “as our community grows, it’s important that we continue investing in places that support wellbeing, encourage recreation and help create vibrant neighbourhoods for people of all ages.”
“Quality public spaces give people opportunities to be active, spend time outdoors and connect with family, friends and neighbours close to home,” she said.
Cr Cherie Wanat attended the park opening. She said “a lot of people have played a part in getting us to today, from the locals who shared their ideas to the people who designed and built it, and our funding partners at the Victorian Government.
“This is what can happen when you listen to the community and have strong partners willing to invest alongside you. Now comes the fun part. Grab the bikes, scooters and helmets and come and give it a go.”
