DETECTIVES searched a Frankston house, Thursday 14 July, and found a fully functioning clandestine drug laboratory – as well as a .22 rifle.
Detective Sergeant Paul Busuttil, of the Frankston Crime Investigation Unit, said police found sufficient quantities of methyl amphetamines to make “substantial amounts” of the drug ice.
Two men were arrested. A 60-year-old, of Frankston, faced Melbourne Magistrates’ Court last week charged with possessing precursor chemicals, possessing materials to manufacture drugs, possessing and trafficking drugs and possessing an unregistered firearm. He was bailed to reappear at a committal mention on 4 November. The 40-year-old, of Avonsleigh, was bailed to appear at Frankston Magistrates’ Court in September on charges of possessing and trafficking a drug of dependence.
“It’s always good when we recover drugs and it’s a special bonus when we catch the people manufacturing drugs and also taking guns off the streets,” Sgt Busuttil said.
