AN eight-week life drawing program will begin at Kingston Arts Centre next month. The program is run by artist Belinda Wilson, who says “life drawing is a powerful way to develop artistic skills and mindfulness.” “Life drawing encourages us to pause, slow down, and connect with creativity. This program gives people the chance to build confidence while exploring, learning, and growing their creativity,” Wilson said. MEMBERS of Parkdale Tennis Club have been saving up for clubroom upgrades, raising nearly $500 by collecting drink bottles and cans for the Container Deposit Scheme. The club has used the money to purchase and install recycled plastic seating to replace its worn-out seating around the courts. Parkdale Tennis Club digital co-ordinator Carolyn Watters said she used the club website and social media to encourage members to take part in the Container Deposit Scheme drive.“The scheme helps offset costs the club would normally need to budget for separately,” she said. “For smaller clubs like ours, that makes a real difference.…

IMPROVED accessibility measures will be introduced at the year’s Frankston Waterfront Festival with money from a federal government grant. This year’s Waterfront Festival will feature large LED screens on the main stage to enhance sightlines and publish real-time accessibility information, safety messaging, and program updates. A MAN sustained a broken nose and fractured eye socket during an alleged assault at a Keysborough car-wash last week. On 10 January, a 49-year-old man was allegedly assaulted while waiting in a queue at a car-wash on Cheltenham Road. The victim suffered a broken nose and fractured eye socket, which required surgery. Police allege the two people were involved in an “altercation” before the assault. The male offender left the scene in a Silver Haval H6 SUV, police say.
