A BOATLOAD of shells has made a splash in Port Phillip Bay to not only clean the bay but help baby oysters and give shellfish a place to grow.Volunteers at fish habitat charity OzFish, with the Victorian Fisheries Authority, is aiming to repurpose shell that would have otherwise gone to landfill. JAQUELINE Hendrey has been named the Kingston Citizen of the Year for her work providing nearly 200,000 meals to those in need. Hendrey runs the Matt’s Place community meals program in Chelsea. The program serves up around 200 meals to 110 guests each week, and has been running for 15 years.At an awards ceremony last week, Hendrey was named Kingston’s most outstanding citizen. THE state government will spend $250,000 on upgraded change rooms at Frankston Park. The money was allocated in last week’s state budget as part of the Local Sports Infrastructure Fund. Emergency services responded to a fire inside a unit in Frankston on Thursday afternoon. It’s believed witnesses called Triple Zero (000) with reports that a unit on Franklin Court was engulfed in flames about 4pm. During the evacuation of the property, a yet-to-be-identified person was located deceased inside. No one else was injured during the blaze. The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are yet to be determined.
