AFTER more than four decades looking over local parks, Des Lucas is retiring. Mr Lucas is the ranger team leader at Braeside Park, where he has worked for 27 years. Before his time at Braeside he worked at Dandenong Valley Parklands. Mr Lucas fondly remembers seeing a puggle, an echidna train, and other birds and animals as some highlights of his time as a park ranger at Braeside. Two people have been arrested after police seized thousands of dollars’ worth of illicit drugs in Melbourne’s south-east. Officers from the Southern Metropolitan Divisional Response Unit executed a search warrant at an address in Langwarrin this morning. Police allegedly seized a commercial quantity of methyl-amphetamine with an estimated street value of $15,000 as well as a quantity of 1,4 butanediol, and ecstasy. A 42-year-old Langwarrin man has been charged with drug trafficking and possessing a drug of dependence, as well as possessing proceeds of crime. Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal collision in Baxter Tuesday evening. It is believed a female was struck by a car as she was walking along Fultons Road around 7.45pm on 19 April. The pedestrian, a 15-year-old Caulfield South girl, sadly died at the scene. The driver, a 19-year-old Aspendale Gardens woman, stopped at the scene and is helping police with their enquiries. FRANKSTON and Susono in Japan have been sister cities for 40 years. The milestone was celebrated at an event at the Frankston Civic Centre. A TRAIL of public artworks and sculptures would make Frankston one of the state’s primary destinations for arts and culture, the Frankston mayor says. Frankston Council is advocating for funding for an arts trail which would run from the Frankston Foreshore to McClelland Sculpture Park and Gallery in Langwarrin. It has contributed $2 million to the project, and is seeking matching commitments from both state and federal governments.
