CONSTRUCTION has finished on a new $6 million childcare facility in Langwarrin. The centre at 60 Aqueduct Road will have the capacity for 76 children. The single level centre is 2320 square metres with a 916 square metre outdoor play area. The building was funded by Banner Asset Management and built by Bensons Property Group. PLOS Musical Productions’ first show of 2024 will be an adaptation of a classic Steven Speilberg film. Catch Me If You Can The Musical opens at Frankston Arts Centre on New Year’s Eve for a limited season. Jordi Poyser will star as Frank Abignale Junior in the PLOS production. The role of Carl Hanratty will be played by Aidan Niarros. The story follows con-artist Abignale Junior and his efforts to evade capture. FRANKSTON’S famous beaches and waterways have inspired a new photographic exhibition. You, Me and the Sea: Portraits of Frankston by photographer Kristina Kraskov has opened at the Frankston Arts Centre’s Atrium Gallery. Kraskov spent hours at beaches observing changes to the space. Greater Dandenong Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following the theft of $100,000 worth of stolen property inside shipping containers across Greater Dandenong. It is understood three containers were taken from a reserve on Box Street in Dandenong containing stolen property and memorabilia of a cricket club, a football club and a local council on 9 October. Police recovered a dumped container with some of the property from the cricket and football club in Grantsville on 27 October. DAN Maitland-Smith has turned a tragedy into an opportunity to do good. Maitland-Smith’s sister Bec Maitland suffered a stroke in 2016, which has permanently impacted her life. Since her stroke, her brother has been raising money for the Stroke Foundation. Just this year he has brought in more than $60,000, with no signs of slowing down. Last weekend, Maitland-Smith teamed up with fellow Mordialloc locals to tackle the annual Stride4Stroke run for the fourth time. He formed part of the Training with Mates team.
