A PLAN for the future of Chelsea is in the works. Chelsea’s city centre has been designated a “major activity centre” by the state government. It currently does not have a structure plan to guide future development plans. Council began working on a draft structure plan for Chelsea in 2019, which was planned to cover zoning for nearby residential areas, level crossing removal plans, appropriate land uses, and height limits for developments. CELTIC folk duo Half Light will bring their show to Chelsea next week. Half Light, the duo of Rennie Pearson and Bob McNeill, have been touring the country this year. They will showcase their brand of folk music at the Chelsea Yacht Club on 1 November. The show features wooden flutes, Irish tin whistles, and steel-string and Spanish guitars with pedal effects. Pearson and McNeill have both toured as solo artists and group members. They have shared their knowledge at New Zealand’s Irish music school Ceol Aneas and other festivals and workshops. A PARKDALE surfer became a national champion at this year’s Australian National Bodyboarding Titles event. The competition was held in Port Macquarie, New South Wales. Parkdale’s Nathan Clark qualified in the over 45s division by winning both state title rounds in Sorrento and Warrnambool. After a thrilling finish in the final, Clark came out on top. He won first place and was crowned national champion in the over 45s division for 2023. MAJOR works are underway to complete the redevelopment of the intersection between Hall Road and the Western Port Highway. The Western Port Highway will be closed in both directions north of the Hall Road intersection between 20 October and 8 November. From 8 November until 20 December the intersection will close completely. The roundabout will be demolished and replaced with traffic lights during that time. A MAN has been arrested after locking himself in a car during a botched robbery attempt, police say. The attempted theft occurred at a petrol station on the corner of Grant Road and Lower Somerville Road in Baxter, 16 October. At around 10.45pm, a man drove his BMW X5 SUV to the petrol station and went inside to buy dim sims. After entering the shop, the man noticed someone entering his car in the security camera.
