THE Pines Pool will open for the season this week. The Pines Forest Aquatic Centre reopens on 1 November. THE towering chrome gnome has been removed from his Frankston home, but his fans have not forgotten him. Reflective Lullaby (below) by artist Gregor Kregar was positioned at the corner of Moorooduc Highway and Hastings Road in Frankston for the last four years. Earlier this month it returned to its permanent home at the McClelland Gallery sculpture park in Langwarrin. KINGSTON Council will refuse to consider the proposed redevelopment of Aspendale’s Rossdale Golf Course until receiving advice from the planning minister. Earlier this year, the Rossdale Golf Club consulted with its members on a proposed redevelopment of the site. Club members agreed to relocate in 2018. The 43.5 hectare Aspendale site is currently zoned “special use zone”, and would need to be rezoned to allow for development. In June, Kingston Council publicly called for the plans to be halted and flagged concerns about the process being undertaken. A man riding a dirt bike has died following a collision in Frankston overnight. Police have been told a motorcycle and car collided at the intersection of Foot and Williams streets on Wednesday 25 October about 10.50pm. The rider, believed aged in his 30s, sadly died at the scene. The 44-year-old driver, and sole occupant of the car, stopped at the scene and has spoken with police. Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives attended the scene and will investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision. A PLAN for the future of Chelsea is in the works. Chelsea’s city centre has been designated a “major activity centre” by the state government. It currently does not have a structure plan to guide future development plans. Council began working on a draft structure plan for Chelsea in 2019, which was planned to cover zoning for nearby residential areas, level crossing removal plans, appropriate land uses, and height limits for developments.
