A FIRST Nations healthcare provider has received $7.6 million to set up a new facility in Frankston. The funding was an election promise made by the federal government. The new First Peoples’ Health and Wellbeing facility will cater for First Nations people living in Frankston and on the Mornington Peninsula – it will house a general practice, pathology, dental and psychology services, an outdoor space for community events, and a cafe. VICTORIANS opposing what they think is unsuitable property development will have a new rallying point next week after the launch of a public declaration for a “Liveable Victoria”. The declaration is the joint effort of Planning Democracy, and Green Wedges Coalition. Planning Democracy was formerly known as Planning Backlash, an umbrella group formed by veteran planning activist Mary Drost OAM in 2003. FRANKSTON line passengers face more weeks of bus replacements as works on the line continue. Crews are in the process of constructing a temporary train line through Parkdale Station to allow trains to pass through while major redevelopment works take place. Buses replace trains on the train line between late October and early November to accommodate the works. Roads in the vicinity will also close during that time.
